Steamed Pomfret with Black Bean Sauce

Make a few diagonal cuts on both sides of the pomfret fish to help it cook evenly.
In a bowl, mix the mashed fermented black beans, minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and water.
Place the pomfret fish on a heatproof dish and pour the black bean sauce mixture over the fish. Ensure the fish is well coated with the sauce, including inside the cuts.
Prepare a steamer and steam the pomfret fish for about 15-20 minutes until it is cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on the size of the fish.
Check the water level in the steamer periodically and add more water if needed.
Once the fish is cooked, garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce

1/2 cup water
